My husband has known Sean for over 10 years now and when he started working with him he was a personal trainer, Sean did not have the same equipment, location or space that he has now. Even in the beginning he was a kind person who worked with my husband and was a trainer who could be depended on for workout advice. For 12 years he has been a driving force within my husband's life and exercise goals. Our daughter started with their kids program at 5 and it visibly changed her confidence in her daily life both in and out of the home. She is willing to try new things and isn’t afraid to do things wrong. Even though some days she is frustrated she is learning that failure is not the end and the more she tries and asks for help the more she can do. Programs like wrestling, Muay Thai and jiu jitsu have provided a healthy outlet for her problems and the additional confidence to deal with things that may cause problems during her daily life. As a parent I couldn’t imagine what kind of kids my children would have become if they did not have the support of their coaches, gym friends and mom and dad who watch them try and sometimes fail new things.
Being a parent is stressful, exhausting and can push all of your buttons. Having the opportunity to put my energy and frustration into a sport safely with people who are supportive has given me more than a gym to work out at but has given me friends and new family. For 6 years I have done muay thai and the discipline required to continue and change in small ways to increase my skill has allowed me to regulate my emotions when I am having a rough day. Adding in jiu jitsu and wrestling has proven how resilient a person can be when they are in a bad situation, it is not about the competition within the gym it is about becoming a better person and training partner. Now as a coach I hope to be able to give the kids that come to classes the same support that our family has received from our training partners, coaches (both past and present) and Sean and Hajar when times were tough and emotions ran high. Jiu jitsu has changed our family life indefinitely and I can’t even pretend to imagine what our lives would look like without it, we would be different people and not know the amazing group of people we do.

Improved health, confidence, learning skills, leadership skills, self control, and the ability to stand up and defend herself are just some of the amazing things our daughter has learned and developed in the last 6+ years of being involved with Ascendant Martial Arts.
Having your child involved in physical activity is one of the best things you can do for their health, growth and development and having your child in martial arts takes that to the next level.
We always get great feedback from our daughters' teachers on how well she interacts with others, her leadership skills and ability to listen to direction and apply what she has learned. I believe a big part of that is due to being involved in martial arts and wrestling from the age of 18 months till now at 8 years old.
The training and family environment at Ascendant Martial Arts has allowed our daughter to develop strong friendships and a feeling of belonging. She also has learned how to deal with tough situations in life through competition and the direction from her coaches on how to overcome obstacles and keep her head up. I cannot recommend this place enough, you will never regret investing in your child's health and well being through their amazing programs.

Great family owned and run gym! Lots of different types of classes for people of all ages! I started there because of my kids, but after a couple months watching them have fun I joined as well!!
